Who’ll be the first of usWho’ll be the first of us to crackHarsh words a struggle to walk back “I seen ya!” caught red-handed at the festMemories from so long ago but I love them bestBrothers from different mothers, a motley crewHarley mini-bikes in the fields just me and youWho’ll be the first of us to break downTossing arms, hugging no matter who’s aroundToo many evenings racing the street lightsGot get back, don’t need another of the fightsOld man, didn’t understand, drive you up the wallsWe got wheels, spun the miles back to cruise the FallsWho’ll be the first of us to smile and shed a tearToo long my friend since we’ve had each other nearBeds in a loft, T-top flying away going down the roadThis time it’s your old man who got to explodeOh! Man we were a handful, damn I miss C-Guy!Too many days, too many friends have gone byWho’ll be the first of us, damn you know it’s meFamily can’t be complete without the whole treeApples fallen to the ground, grandma would grinTakes good and bad to make it whole, toss ‘em inFootball flattened on the road, Mickey’s Caddy catching a ball Her yard, her laugh, I feel such love remembering it allWho’ll be the first of us to shed a tearI cried a river writing this poem hereWho’ll be the first of us…Tim Windisch8 11 2026
