One of the biggest tools in life when it comes to relationships and communication is being able to recognize your audience. We don't think as often about who we are talking to and are so consumed with what we are wanting to vent or get off of our chests. People can only meet you as far as they have healed and it isn't fair to put expectations on our loved ones that they are capable of giving us something that they haven't been able to access for themselves.

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems.
