Who's Your Daddy? An Intro

from Who's Your Daddy? The Podcast · host Who's Your Daddy? The PODcast.

In March 2023, I officially became a statistic. Like 40 million otherpeople, I spat into a tube, hoping to find insights into my ethnicbackground.  As a proud Puerto Rican andan Afro Latino, I was hoping to find that there was a direct line between meand a great Taino Cacique.  As well asfinding out where in Africa my ancestors migrated from.I was able to find the indigenous and African roots I knew wherethere.  What I didn’t expect to find wereresults that hit the “delete” key on the story I was told about my life andpaternal lineage.Suddenly, I was part of the "1% to 3%" club: the NPEs (NotParent Expected). As an adolescent, I’d spent my mornings looking in the mirrortrying to find a trace of my father’s features in my own reflection. I thoughtI was just bad at seeing the resemblance; it turns out, I was auditioning for arole in a family movie I wasn't even cast in.The truth wasn’t just a surprise—it was a seismic shift. I’ve livedthrough the "Genetic Bewilderment". I know the weight of"Identity Foreclosure," the sudden panic of losing your medicalhistory, and that weird, quiet ache of "Disenfranchised Grief" whereyou aren't sure if you're allowed to mourn a life that didn't exist."Who’s Your Daddy? – The Vodcast" is a raw, visual space forthose of us navigating the "After." We’re peeling back the doublehelix to explore family secrets, awkward first meetings, and the messy, beautiful work of rebuilding a self that was there all along. You see, I believe there is a profound power in sharing this with peoplewho actually get it. We who are NPE are looking for kinship in acommunity whose kins have been... often times, a bit misplaced. So, whether you’re a fellow NPE trying to find your footing, a familymember or friend navigating this new reality alongside a loved one, or acurious observer fascinated by the ultimate family plot twist—you’re welcomehere. Grab a seat, and let’s take this journey together.
