When the people of the tribe of Judah began to return from the exile in Babylon they were discouraged from rebuilding the temple of Yahweh by the taunts and threats of their surrounding opponents. Instead they worked on their own houses, being concerned with their own affairs and neglecting the worship that was due their Elohim.
