Why 2023 Is Critical For James Franklin And Penn State Football | Penn State Football 2023
from College Football with Sam · host Samuel Recker
The jury is out on James Franklin and the Nittany Lions entering the 2023 season. Penn State is a semi-popular preseason pick to win the Big Ten and make a College Football Playoff appearance. There are many reasons to pick Penn State, such as their elite running back duo, veteran offensive line, astounding defensive players at defensive end, linebacker, and cornerback, and a high-ceiling quarterback in Drew Allar. While there are question marks, it would not surprise me if this team decided to upset the Buckeyes in Columbus or beat Michigan in a revenge matchup in Happy Valley. Given that facing both Ohio State and Michigan is a challenge, I would be shocked if James Franklin captured his 2nd Big Ten Title this year, but a win over the Buckeyes or Wolverines would do a lot on the recruiting trail and it would certainly boost the morale of the staff and players. If Penn State can figure out their defensive line, replacing PJ Mustipher, and if Drew Allar can play at a great level, Happy Valley will be buzzing and Penn State might make a trip to the College Football Playoff.
