Why A Lot Of Women Are Single

from THINK BEFORE YOU SLEEP · host THINK BEFORE YOU SLEEP

She has a career. She has friends. She has hobbies. She has a therapist. She has everything except a partner. And she is not sure she wants one.In this episode, I explore the reasons why a record number of women are choosing to remain single. The data is clear: in 2023, nearly forty percent of women aged 25 to 44 were not living with a spouse or partner, a number that has doubled since 1990 . The traditional drivers of marriage, economic necessity and social pressure, have largely disappeared. Women now earn more college degrees than men. Women now out-earn their male peers in many industries. And women are no longer willing to settle for a relationship that makes their lives harder instead of easier. The complaints are consistent: men who do not do their share of domestic labor, men who lack emotional intelligence, men who treat relationships as transactions rather than partnerships. The men who complain about the loneliness epidemic rarely ask themselves what they are bringing to the table. The women who are single are not bitter. They are not broken. They are simply unwilling to accept less than they deserve. And if that means being alone, they have decided that alone is better than being with someone who makes them feel lonely. Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and press play because the question is not why women are single. The question is why men are not stepping up.
