Quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter both left for the NFL, leaving big shoes to fill. Is it too early to fire Deion Sanders? Brian Kelly was fired as head coach of the LSU Tigers football team yesterday following a 49-25 home loss to the Texas A&M Aggies that dropped LSU to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in SEC play. The loss appeared to be the final straw for the program, which had struggled to meet expectations under Kelly’s leadership. Kelly, who signed a 10-year, $100M contract with LSU in 2021, compiled a 34-14 overall record and a 19-10 mark in the SEC during his tenure. Despite some success early in his stint, including an SEC West title, the team failed to maintain championship-level performance. LSU now faces a massive buyout estimated between $50M and $54M as part of Kelly’s guaranteed contract. Why are there so many firings in college football?
