WTMJ host Steve Scaffidi was joined in-studio by WISN Channel 12 political reporter Matt Smith, and they began by discussing the State of Wisconsin still being in the middle of counting votes from the 2024 November election. A clip from Smith’s conversation with Wisconsin Elections Commission Chair Ann Jacobs was played about the questions on the yet-to-be-counted ballots. Matt and Steve discussed more about covering politics, especially as today marked the 4-year anniversary of the January 6th insurrection attempt. A clip from Smith’s conversation U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin Bryan Steil was played where he gave his thoughts on security during the inauguration and the peaceful transfer of power between U.S. President Joe Biden and president-elect Donald Trump. Matt and Steve discussed more about election security in the wake of the tragedy that occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana and in Madison, Wisconsin and stopping heinous incidents before they happen.
