Why aren't cameras MORE expensive?

from The Art of Photography :: Off Camera · host Ted Forbes

Why aren't cameras more expensive? Most people think they should be a lot less. We are in an age now where the photography industry is struggling to stay alive with too many cameras and too few buyers. The race has been on to give you more value for your money, but an interesting side effect has emerged. They all basically do variations of the same thing. Nothing is driving the industry forward. Sony and Panasonic have exceptions to this, but Jaron and Ted argue they should be driving this even harder.
