Why Bring a Sword to a Gun Fight?

There is a scene where Indiana Jones walks out into the street. It's hot, the dust is kicking up. He's sweaty and he's had a tough day. At the other end of the street, he's confronted with a samurai type guy, swinging his sword, ready to get Indiana Jones' head off. Very casually, Indiana Jones reaches down, pulls up his gun and shoots the guy. Moral: you don't bring a knife to a gun fight! Now we land on Luke 22:35-38. There is a very curious exchange with the disciples. We're still in the upper chambers of the Last Supper but we are at the end of dinner and Jesus says: if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. ... The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That’s enough!” he replied. They are about to walk into the street, and the Proverbial Indiana Jones is at the other end of the street. What's up with the two swords, really?
