Why Can Marriage be so Hard? If You Haven't Had Issues, You Haven't Been Married Long Enough

Thanks for joining FriDudes this week!  Bunch of flawed dudes getting real and pursuing Truth.  If you are married or want to get married, buckle up.  This is your episode.   Right on!  You can debate God.  Very, very hard to argue results.  If you are married, you will have storms.  If you tell me everything is perfect, amazing, puppy dogs and fairy tales, I'm going to tell you that is a red flag.  You haven't been married long enough.  Speaking of logic and Truth, I have the stats to back me up.  In our society, 50+% of first marriages divorce.  60% of second marriages will crumble.  70% of third marriages will fail.  So if you want to be successful in marriage, if you want to model for your children and grandchildren what marriages is...wouldn't you be wise to study what works and what doesn't?  Implement what works.  Avoid what doesn't.  Truth and logic.  Speaking of a best practice, Jeffrey shared one after we wrapped.  Before Jeffrey can initiate an argument, he writes it down and reflects on it.  Instead of reacting in rage and emotion he contemplates and rationalizes it.  Guess how many heated arguments he has now avoided with his wife?  Countless.  Can you be better?  Absolutely, you can.  Keep tuning in.  On that note, hitting on the theme of Matt 7: 24-27, any relationship that you care about is doomed without choosing love, grace, mercy and forgiveness.  You will need to implement all above at some juncture/storm in your relationship.  So here is a little ditty on that subject, quit holding on to hurt like its your teddy bear.  For give those hurts over to God.  Doesn't mean you forget.  Trust is earned.  Quit weighing yourself and the ones you love down with the hurts.  On that note, this song is climbing up the charts, Holy Water by We the Kingdom.  Don't just listen, add it to your playlist, more importantly, practice it, sweet forgiveness.
