Why Church - Why Do I Need to Pray

I've been involved in churches my entire life. I came to faith in Jesus at 16. I've worked in ministry in paid and non-paid positions since I was 18. I've seen Christians get heated about a lot of things: what to believe, political views, social issues, leadership structures, and money, to name a few. But one area I've never seen someone get worked up over is prayer. In fact, when it comes to prayer, the emotion I see more than any other is embarrassment. Prayer can be pretty confusing, right? It's this weird hodgepodge of ancient language, symbolism, emotion, ritual, theology, and personal experience. It's so weird, in fact, that prayer is the only thing the disciples of Jesus asked him to teach them. This Sunday, we're going to look at why, as a church, we should pray.
