Why Church - Why is Discipleship Important

Have you ever followed, or even loved, a sports team? Many people who do buy a jersey, learn all the information they can about that team, and grow as a follower of that team. When it comes to a team jersey, the big life lesson is not letting the name on the back become bigger than the name on the front. That is hard when players are called to become great and the greater they are the better their salary. Truthfully, some teams don’t catch up to individual's skill levels. But the teams that win the big trophies are the ones that are team focused. Jesus is calling us to follow Him and be a part of His discipleship team. We are to clothe ourselves with characteristics of Christ. We're to be in the Bible so we can learn all we can of who God has called us to be and how He wants us to live. We are to grow as followers of Christ. The question, how many of us keep this at the top of our priorities? Are we more focused on ourselves, or on Him? Do we want to win individual trophies, or a kingdom trophy? Join us this Sunday as we learn why discipleship is important. We’ll look at what a disciple is and why it is important that disciples continue to grow. Ultimately, this is to bring hope and healing to our communities, and see more people know Jesus and have a relationship with Him.
