We're going to start the show talking about power ,, because get this .. this morning, the highest-ever power use was recorded in New Zealand. According to Transpower, at its peak, electricity use was clocked at 7247 megawatts .. and mainly due to increased demand from Aucklanders. This cold snap is clearly putting demands on the grid, so much so that power companies are warning there might be an energy shortfall on Friday morning. Larry Blair is the man behind the New Zealand Energy Substack He keeps a close eye on our energy networks - and can explain how our energy systems respond to demand. He joins Jesse.
