Why did Jesus weep

Jesus wept as He approached Jerusalem not merely out of sorrow for the city's impending destruction, but as a profound expression of divine love and grief over humanity's persistent rejection of salvation. Though hailed as King in triumphal procession, His tears revealed the heart of God—broken over the blindness of His people who failed to recognize the day of their visitation, mistaking earthly deliverance for spiritual redemption. He mourned the fact that the very people He came to save had rejected Him, not because of ignorance, but because they sought political liberation rather than the peace found only in His sacrifice.
