Why Did Solomon Have So Many Wives? [ Q&A series EP. 06]

In this video, we dig into one of the most puzzling biblical questions: Why did King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, have so many wives and concubines? We explore the important difference between descriptive and prescriptive parts of the Bible—what the Bible describes in a story versus what God actually prescribes for His people.Using Genesis 2, we look at God’s original design when He said, “A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife.” One man. One wife. One union. We then contrast this with Solomon’s life and examine how his choice to join himself to many women directly contradicted God’s intention. We also discuss the consequences of Solomon’s decisions:1. How his marriages led him into idolatry2. How this ultimately caused the division of the kingdom3. And how it set a pattern that influenced generations of unfaithful kings after himFinally, we draw a parallel to today—how polygamy and unfaithfulness still damage families, leaving emotional, spiritual, and relational wounds that can last for generations. If you’ve ever wondered what the Bible really teaches about marriage, wisdom, and the dangers of drifting from God’s design, this video will give you a grounded, biblical perspective.
