On Monday, White House officials reclassified the elite military force the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist group. It is the first time in US history that a sitting president has accused a foreign government of terrorism. But is this move, which raised eyebrows coming on the eve of Israeli elections, just another presidential norm left shredded on the floor of the Oval Office or something more significant?
