Our soul (mind, will and emotions) is not transformed when we give our life to Christ. Our free will choice has full control over when it wants to begin transformation. This process only begins once we accept the Word of God (the Bible) as the Truth, and do it, not just hearing it, deceiving ourselves. While the portion of our mind that isn't yet renewed is carnal, and at enmity (war) with God, He still loves us nonetheless and wants us to be set free from our old understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).The soul that has been rescued by the Father through His Son Jesus, from out of the Kingdom of Darkness and into God's Own Kingdom has now been set free from sin. That is because the Christian is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), which is not subjected to the law of sin and death any more. That old self was buried in Christ. The Christian now has to make sure they continue to seek Jesus and remain in Christ, such that they are protected from slipping back into the world from which they were delivered from, and from which they were conformed to before. God created you to be you, the new you, not the fallen you. God has plans to prosper you, to give you a hope and a future, not to harm you.
