Why Do I Have to Wait in the Waiting Room?

from Elder Law Issues

Maybe you’ve made an initial appointment for your parent to come visit Fleming & Curti, PLC, lawyers. Or you’ve made your own appointment but want to bring along a trusted family member. We’re happy to have them come along, but they won’t be joining us in the conference room — at least not for an initial estate planning discussion. But the family member might wonder: why do I have to wait in the waiting room? Our quick answer: because we want to be clear that everyone understands — the concerned relative is not our client. The person who might ultimately sign legal documents is our client, and we want to hear their voice in the exchange. That doesn’t mean that we suspect them of exploiting their aging family member. It doesn’t mean that we won’t ever want to hear from them. But we’re very careful to make sure that our clients can explain what they want, and that they know we listen to their wishes. Let us explain further in this podcast episode.

The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (Full Audiobook) Robert Greene Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this multi-million-copy New York Times bestseller is the definitive manual for anyone interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control – from the author of The Laws of Human Nature. In the book that People magazine proclaimed “beguiling” and “fascinating,” Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum. Some laws teach the need for prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), others teach the value of confidence (“Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness”), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (“Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally”).
