Why do point incentives work for physicians who would not fit in the hourly wage scale?

This text analyzes the evolution of point incentive measures in Japanese physician platforms and their effectiveness. Initially, points were awarded for clicking to view videos, but the measures became more complex to ensure viewing time, and despite being irrational in terms of physicians' time efficiency, the study points out that they continue due to psychological factors such as collection habits, positive feedback loops, and loss aversion thinking. As a reason why it works even for high-income physicians, the report also introduces a survey result that a quarter of the population has a habit of collecting. As a future measure, a model such as awarding points for continuing medical education (CME) is proposed with reference to overseas cases.
