Why Do the Heathen Nations Rage?

from Rebellion on SermonAudio · host Todd E. Davis

In Psalm 2, we see that though the world resists Yahweh and His Anointed, it cannot overturn His rule because He has established Christ as King; therefore, the only wise response is to bow before Him and take refuge in Him. I. The world rejects the Lord: A. The nations rebel and plot in vain. (v. 1) B. Their rulers stand against the Lord and His Anointed. (v. 2–3) II. The Lord responds to their rage: A. He laughs at their rebellion (v. 4) B. He answers them in His fury (v. 5) C. He has established His King (v. 6) III. The King inherits and rules over the nations. A. The Lord reveals His Son as King (v. 7) B. The Son receives the nations as His inheritance. (v. 8) C. He will rule them with authority. (v. 9) IV. Heed the warning: Serve the Lord or perish in the way. A. The rulers of the earth must listen. (v. 10) B. Serve the Lord with fear and trembling. (v. 11) C. Pay homage to the Son and take refuge in Him. (v. 12)
