Why Does Allah Give Us Hardships? | Khutbah by Nouman Ali Khan | Brisbane, Australia

from Nouman Ali Khan: Bayyinah Podcast

During today’s Khutbah from the Holland Park Mosque in Brisbane, Australia, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan extracts key lessons from the story of Musa (AS), Fir’awn and the Bani Isra’il, taken from ayat within Surah Al-A’raf. “Why are we still suffering, even after turning to Allah ﷻ?” This question arose among the elders of the Bani Isra’il who were concerned that despite Musa (AS) delivering the message of one true God, they were still undergoing hardship. The Quran captures their frustration: “We have always been oppressed—before and after you came to us” [7:129] Prior to Musa’s message, the concept of a ‘god’ to them used to be one that provided a transactional relationship: you make some type of offering, and in return, total freedom from hardship is to be expected. Therefore, after accepting the God of Musa (AS), they expected change, power, and relief. But Musa (AS) didn’t promise this. He reminded them: Allah ﷻ gives power to whoever He wills, and then watches what they do with it. Pharaoh had immense power and control of the narrative, yet his inflated ego destroyed him. We must then ask ourselves, when Allah gives us power, how will we use it? Will we let the ‘Pharaoh inside of us’ come out and also become oppressors, or will taqwa take the lead? This is the true test of a believer. ------------------------------ 📚 Start your Quran journey at https://www.bayyinahtv.com 🎁 Sponsor a soul who seeks the Quran with a Bayyinah TV membership at https://bayyinah.com/gift
