Why Does Call of Duty Keep Doing This?

Modern Warfare 2's most recent update brought super powers to the game. Lately, I have not been a fan of the vibe Call of Duty is going for. I thought this game was supposed to be a military simulation shooter not a hero shooter. The cosmetics in the game are over the top these days and it just turns me away from playing the game.
