Why Don’t We Irrigate the West?

In this episode of Logic Dictate Hot Topics, host Steve Gibson, author of the sci-fi political thriller Logic’s Dictate, explores one of America’s most overlooked infrastructure questions: Why don’t we irrigate the West? From Arizona’s droughts to Midwest floods, Steve unpacks Andy Brock’s visionary plan—building pipelines and reservoirs to redirect floodwaters, safeguard crops, and ensure the West’s future prosperity. This is a conversation where common sense meets common ground. Welcome back to Logic Dictate Hot Topics, the podcast where fiction meets real-world policy. I’m Steve Gibson, author of Logic’s Dictate, the blockbuster sci-fi political thriller that follows presidential candidate Andy Brock and his bold, logic-driven vision for America. Each day, we explore what Andy would say about today’s toughest issues—and today’s question is both timely and critical: Why don’t we irrigate the West? The American West—home to booming economies, massive cities, and millions of people—is running out of water. Meanwhile, floods devastate farmlands in the Midwest and East. Andy’s answer? Apply reason, engineering, and leadership. If the Romans built aqueducts 2,000 years ago, surely we can build pipelines today. Floods in the Midwest. Drought in the West. Billions lost every year. What if one common-sense solution could fix both problems—and reshape America’s future?
