Why God Told Abraham To KILL His Son | Genesis 22:1-18
from Watson-Howland
If God let you suffer, or asked you to do something that made no sense and broke your heart, would you assume He'd turned against you? That's exactly the question the story of Abraham and Isaac forces open. God gave Abraham one son after decades of waiting, then told him to take that son up a mountain and sacrifice him, and Abraham obeyed without a single question. What hit me hardest is one word in the text: God tested Abraham. He didn't torment him, He didn't punish him, He tested him. And the moment Abraham proved he'd obey even in the dark, the knife was stopped and the reward was greater than anything he could have imagined. Faith that asks nothing of you proves nothing. If you're never tested, how can your faith be shown? This is something I'm still living through. There are lessons in the Bible I don't fully understand and sins I still stumble over, but I've learned you obey before you understand, not after. The story even foreshadows Jesus, a son carrying the wood up the hill to be sacrificed, except this time the son wasn't spared. By our actions, not our words, our faith is made complete. In this clip I unpack why God tests the people He loves, what Abraham teaches us about obeying in the dark, and why your deeds matter more than anything you say.🔴 What you'll discover:The difference between God testing you and tormenting youWhy Abraham obeyed before he understoodWhat "faith without action is dead" really meansHow Isaac's story foreshadows Jesus on the crossWhy faith that costs you nothing proves nothingThe sins I still stumble over and how I deal with themWhy your reward comes after the test, not before00:00 Abraham's Test of Faith07:23 Obedience Before UnderstandingI'll leave the links in the show notes below.#Faith #Christianity #Bible #Abraham #Isaac #Genesis #Jesus #God #BookOfJames #WatsonHowland #ChristianPodcast #Obedience
