Why I Stopped Being Busy
from The Stoic Compass
In this episode of The Stoic Compass, Jim Walker and Eleanor Vance dive into the modern obsession with being “busy” and reveal why it’s not the badge of honor society makes it out to be. Inspired by Darius Foroux’s article “Why I Stopped Being Busy” and timeless Stoic wisdom from Seneca and Marcus Aurelius, they explore how busyness often means being out of control of your own life, how it becomes an excuse for neglecting what truly matters, and why slowing down, saying no, and living intentionally is the Stoic way to true fulfillment. With humor, honest reflections, and practical strategies, Jim and Ellie challenge hustle culture and encourage listeners to stop existing on autopilot and start living with purpose—because being busy doesn’t mean you’re living, it often means the opposite. 📖 Pay Attention by C.
