"Why I'm running 5000 miles around the UK" - Paul Minter of Head-Up Charity

Head-Up Charity is a mental health organisation founded by four British Military Veterans with over 50 years of experience serving their country, including 11 operational tours. Their aim is to build a retreat where serving and ex-serving personnel can go to learn the tools and methods utilised by the founders to help them through the difficult transition process from military to civilian. This process can be quite challenging, and some people never really recreate their identity and higher purpose, which can lead down a dark road which has resulted in many mates and colleagues taking their own lives.Paul is a veteran of numerous deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and has battled his own demons. In the first episode we recorded together over a year ago, he shared some of those struggles, the impact of declining mental health, and what he did to overcome those demons and get himself to a place mentally where he was no longer suicidal.
