Why is "Labor" Spelled Without a "U"?

from Auspol Explained · host David Cox

The Australian Labor Party has one odd mystery... Given that Australian's use British English and spell words like colour, humour, etc with O-U-R, why does the ALP spell their name without a U? The name comes from "labour", because of its origins with the workers movements and unions, but where along the line did the spelling become Americanised? Well that's exactly what I'm going to find out. Join me in a dive through history, a very obviously not Canadian man, and a Labor historian's commentary on booklets as I get to the bottom of this once and for all.   Support the channel on patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/AuspolExplained  Get a copy of the script here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_X1JfGDP6jOHFMJAzdrQnIKULnnWuvde/view?usp=sharing  Like Auspol Explained on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Auspol-Explained-107892180702388   Auspol Explained would like to acknowledge the Whadjuk Nyoongar people and their Elders as the owners and custodians of the Land that the video was filmed and edited on.
