Why is XC so hot right now?

XC is having a vintage year in 2020, with a raft of new bikes being released. While the Olympics might not be happening, bike development hasn't stopped.  We're also seeing the massive growth in 'downcountry' bikes - slacker short-travel trail bikes with plenty of XC DNA woven into their carbon frames.  We've tested numerous here at BikeRadar, so Tom and Alex sit down and chat all things fast and flat-out.
