Why Knowledge Won't Save You (Follow Me, Ep. 02)

Over the past year, I've received a number of prayer requests for long-time friends who have abandoned their faith. They grew up in Christian homes and went to Sunday School, Bible camp, AWANA and Vacation Bible School. They even went to Bible College, where I met some of them. They married Christian spouses and faithfully attended a local church.They had decades of Bible knowledge, Scripture memorization, and Christian influence. And yet, over the pandemic, they drifted away. When the church reopened, they remained outside the community. They might not admit they've abandoned their faith, but they've declined so far in spiritual maturity that friends and spouses are reaching out for prayer.This should serve as a warning that discipleship is more than acquiring knowledge. Knowledge alone won't save us, nor will it sustain us. When life brings great adversity, our spiritual health is tested. We may assume we're spiritually mature adults, but the test proves we're still children.
