Why Mentoring Matters - Barnett Helzberg Jr.

from Talking Business Now · host Kelly Scanlon & C-Suite Radio

Barnett Helzberg, Jr., former chair of Helzberg Diamonds, joins us to talk about his new book, Entrepreneurs+Mentors=Success. From 1962, when Helzberg took the reins of the company his grandfather founded in 1915, he expanded it from 15 stores to the third largest jewelry retailer in the country. He sold Helzberg Diamond's to Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway in 1995. After selling the business, Helzberg founded HEMP - the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program, an organization that connects entrepreneurs with mentors. Helzberg himself was mentored by Marion Laboratories' founder Ewing Kauffman, who also owned the Kansas City Royals and founded the world-renowned Kauffman Foundation. Helzberg is also the author of several other books, including I Am Loved and What I Learned Before I Sold to Warren Buffett. He joins us today to talk about how mentors can help you grow your business and unlock the potential that lies within your business and yourself as an entrepreneur. Learn more about your ad choices.
