Why Nigel Farage is Speaking at the World Economic Forum

Nigel Farage is set to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, despite twice tweeting during the 2024 general election that "Reform UK will reject the influence of the World Economic Forum and cancel Britain's membership of it." The WEF is an insidious organisation which pushed COVID lockdowns, digital currency, carbon credits, and a vision of the future in which "You will own nothing, and be happy." But given Reform's economic and foreign policies, it makes sense for Farage to attend. He can insult detached technocratic elites in his public speech, just like Trump and Milei did; then, privately court business interests that have withdrawn from Britain to Dubai, and build relationships with foreign heads of state ahead of becoming the next government.
