The Buckeyes have more than a shot to make the playoff, contrary to popular belief, they still can win the National Championship. Ohio State is ranked 5th in the latest CFP rankings, and all they need is either TCU or (more favorably) USC to lose this coming Championship Weekend. Utah is favored to beat USC according to ESPN's FPI and TCU is barely favored by the same analytics over Kansas State. Both the No.3 and No.4 teams in the country are also favored by less than a touchdown to win their games according to oddsmakers.
