Why Pray?

from I AM PASTOR DEB · host Pastor Deb

We Want To Hear From YOU!For Believers, praying is supposed to be like breathing, for prayer is a form of serving God. We pray because God commands us to pray (Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving).  Some say all that sounds all nice and fluffy, but I pray and it seems I still can’t get a break. I can’t see where my prayers have significantly made a major difference in my life. Many of us exalt our prayers as directives upon which we give to God.  God is the Almighty we are called to worship and serve Him.  God is the omniscient one, the one who knows all, but we often pray  as if we know it all and God is just the genie who is supposed to listen to our request and magically work things out according to what we deem as good and pleasing.  And when things don’t work out according to our standards then we dismiss our prayers as being unanswered.  When in fact every prayer ever prayed has been answered.  God loves us too much to ignore us.   Sometimes the answer to our prayer is yes, sometimes it's no, and then other times it is wait, not now. We, like spoiled children, only want to hear a “yes” from God. When His no is oftentimes a means of protecting us and His “wait, not now” is due to a timing issue. God sometimes wants us to work something out in or around us to better prepare us  for what we are praying to Him for. We have to stop throwing tantrums when we don’t get what we want from God the way we want it, and humble ourselves and go back to Him for clarification and directives. James 4:3 “You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions”. There are 3 fundamental principles that we need to consistently allow to guide us concerning prayer:  1. Humility  2. Faith  3. Action. 1 Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,” What does humility concerning prayer really look like?  First and foremost, humility acknowledges God in all His glory with all His power. Humility approaches the throne of God shutting down any residue of pride, understanding that prayer is not a right it is a gift.   A gift, not earned!  For none of us is worthy to enter into the presence of God.  Support the showwww.BibleDeliverance.org
