Why Redefining Motherhood is so important

from Can't Call Your Mom with Nicole Weston · host Nicole Weston | Motherless mothers navigating life after motherloss

Nicole is passionate about flipping the script on what we know to be true about motherhood.  We are evolving and our children have evolved.  We are different from the generations before us.  We need to break down the structures of what motherhood used to be.  In this episode, Nicole shares her story. It started when her water broke and had a severe panic attack. You know when you have this idea of what you think things are going to be like and then… they are not. When she was 7 months postpartum, she was living in fear. Although she was feeling so much gratitude and love for her new child, it also created so much fear in her mind and heart.  All the “what if” scenarios were going through her head. She quickly realized that a place was needed to talk about the real stuff.  The stuff that was going on behind the scenes. She wanted to feel supported in all the aspects of motherhood.  The good and the bad.  Asking the important questions, “what does it mean to be a mother?” She struggled to find a community that would talk about all of it. She knew it needed to start with putting our maternal mental health first. It was no longer an option for her to continue to move forward from a place of fear.  Something needed to change.  Learn about her struggles and how she overcame them, asked for help and became the mother her daughter needed her to be. She has created a community of mothers to share the realness of the everyday in hopes to connect all mothers in a safe space commonality and break the barriers of silence and end the shame of what mothers' should be.  Nicole Weston Monthly meetup - More than Moms https://nicoleweston.ca/product/mom-group/ Redefining Motherhood- More than Moms Private Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/morethanmomscommunity Disclaimer: The information, opinions, recommendations and content presented in this podcast are for general information purposes only, and because each person is unique please consult your healthcare professional for any medical related questions.  and any reliance on the information provided in this podcast is done at your own risk.
