Why shoot locally?

from Wildlife and Adventure Photography · host Graham

Send us Fan MailI'm a big believer that practice makes perfect, but I'm not always disciplined enough to take photographs regularly. This isn't usually a problem for me as I do often use my camera, but, if you're one of those people who puts your camera away until just before that big day, or trip, this might be for you.My challenge is for you to describe your local area in 12 photographs (or whatever works for you). Imagine yourself as an art director and you are producing a brochure to attract people to where you live. What photographs would you choose?Think visual storyteller; think composition, viewpoint, lighting, shadow, colour, black and white. What details do you walk past every day without noticing? How observant are you?Treat your local area in the same way that you would treat somewhere new, somewhere you've wanted to visit for a long time!By building these skills, you'll be able to take much more interesting photographs when you travel. It's time for another podcast...
