Why The Church Must Participate In Politics

from Cyril Peterson Podcast · host Cyril Peterson

You cannot read the Bible and ignore the political realm. The Bible is thick with politics. We have four books, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, that deal with the rule and reign of government leaders. Scripture is packed with political concerns, including laws, statutes, ordinances, kingdoms, empires, courts, judges, kings, queens, taxes, and so much more. God is active on virtually every page, engaging in the political affairs of humanity for both blessing and judgment. You might say that the Bible is a political textbook, since God is seen setting up nations and writing constitutions and bylaws. He both establishes governments and dismantles them. He places people in strategic political roles and removes others from the political purchase. Given this reality, it is unfortunate that God and politics are far too often disconnected from each other, as though connecting them too closely is anathema or forbidden. The failure to properly connect God's relationship to politics based on his word has left individuals, political leaders, and nations void of the knowledge needed to govern society as the creator intended it to be.If you enjoyed this video, you’ll certainly want to join our CHANNEL MEMBERSHIPSJoin this channel to get access to perks:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp_bPGNUUz8oz0b98YSt2ew/joinConnect with me:https://linktr.ee/cyrilpetersonTo SUPPORT FINANCIALY: https://www.payfast.co.za/donate/go/cyrilpetersonministries/To PARTNER:  https://www.cyrilpeterson.co.za/partner/CHAPTERS00:00:00 - Introduction to Politics in the Bible00:01:17 - Applying the Bible to Personal, Family, and Church Issues00:03:09 - The Bible and Political Issues00:04:27 - The Importance of a Theistic Worldview in Politics00:05:27 - The Old Testament as a Model for Modern Politics00:07:26 - The Role of the Church in Politics00:09:04 - The Consequences of Separating God from Politics00:11:01 - God's Sovereignty Over Nations00:14:10 - The Impact of Spiritual Alignment on Society00:14:54 - The Story of Babel and Its Relevance Today00:15:26 - The Story of Babel and Its Implications00:16:56 - The Rebellion of Babel and Modern Society00:23:28 - The Consequences of Rebellion Against God00:25:49 - The Power of Unity and the Danger of Rebellion00:29:49 - The Contemporary Expression of the Tower of Babel00:30:59 - God's Strategy to Limit Rebellion00:31:11 - The Consequences of Collective Rebellion00:31:50 - God's Intervention in Rebellion00:32:23 - The Role of the Church in Discipling Nations00:34:44 - The Danger of Globalization Without God00:34:57 - The Consequences of Disobedience to God's Directive00:35:47 - The Need for a Return to God in Politics00:36:26 - God's Sovereignty in Current Global Issues00:37:18 - The Call for Unity Centered Around God00:37:58 - The Consequences of Losing God in Society00:38:52 - The Call for a Divine Reset00:39:15 - The Desire for All Nations to Praise God
