This revealing statement exposes the true motivation behind Western intervention in Africa - not to help develop the continent, but to maintain access to its resources while preventing the emergence of competitive industrial powers.The strategic importance of African resources cannot be overstated. The continent holds critical minerals including gold, diamonds, titanium, and lithium - the latter being essential for renewable energy technologies and electric vehicles. Without these resources, Western economies would collapse, as former French presidents Jacques Chirac and François Mitterrand acknowledged when they admitted that without Africa, France would be a "third-rate power."
