Truth currently works at The International School of Tanganyika (IST) as a Secondary Learning Support Teacher, located in the coastal Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam. Originally from Fort Washington, Maryland, a suburb of Washington DC she previously taught at Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) in Beijing, China, Discovery College in Hong Kong, and various public schools in her home state. Before transitioning into education, Truth worked for many years as an attorney for a non-profit legal services organization. She has a BA in Sociology from Spelman College, a JD from the University of MD School of Law and a MA in Leadership in Teaching (Special Education) from Notre Dame of Maryland University. The daughter of two former teachers and the parent of two young adults that were raised both in the United States and abroad.
