Why This New Need For EveryoneTo Come Out Publicly?

I've noticed this shift in trend for a couple of years now where especially new idols, singers, artists, actors and others talents of the media especially feel the need to announce their sexual orientation or preference in the front of the world. Is it just personal or is there a much darker reason behind it?Other people who are not celebs of the media but generally hold a profession in any field or are part of the sports industry are also just making announcements left right and centre. How much of it is real and how much is marketing? Or much is pressure and how much is personal? First of, why is there this need to announce it anyway?
