Why we pray for the dead in November

Bishop David Oakley, the recently ordained Bishop of Northampton, gives us a reflection explaining why Catholics pray for the dead - particularly in November. He discusses the simple prayers that Catholics can use to pray for the Faithful Departed and encourages us to pray particularly for those who died from COVID-19. "The scourge of this virus has caused so much harm in our world. So many have fallen sick and died from the virus. We want to remember them this year, especially, because there's a sense that maybe they died without being prepared for that moment. They may have had little warning and it's good for us to hold them in our hearts before the Lord in prayer."
