Why Women Marry for Potential and End Up Having Affairs (Part 2)

from The Scarlet Edit: Infidelity, Divorce, Starting Over.

This is part two of my conversation with Hope, the first woman to come on The Scarlet Edit and share her story as the one who cheated. If you haven't listened to part one yet, go back and start there. In this episode, Hope gets into why she ended the affair, and what it felt like to realize she was addicted to her affair partner rather than in love with him. We talk about how she got caught, the decision to divorce, and the pressure from people around them to go to counseling for a marriage she already knew was over.Hope also opens up about something she sees as one of the biggest mistakes she made — marrying her husband based on potential rather than reality. She thought he would grow into the provider and protector she needed, but after six years, that potential never materialized. That disconnect fed the resentment that eventually led to the affair. After the divorce was finalized, she and her ex-husband tried to make it work again. She gave up her business, her investments, and her financial independence to let him lead. She loved it. But he couldn't stop bringing the affair back into every argument, and eventually she had to draw a line.We also talk about what pushed her to start sharing her story publicly on Instagram, the response she's gotten from women who needed to hear it, and why healing has to be the goal for everyone involved.Connect with Hope on InstagramNew episodes every Thursday.💌 Business inquiries: [email protected]
