TRANSCRIPT · AUTO-GENERATED

Good morning and happy Monday morning. So today's topic, the title, the title is why you do what you do is the powerful motivator. And the subtitle is when you know your why you will fly. This article I wrote in Medium Publications, it's in response to a 30-day writing challenge and day 17, the prompt, you will know what the prompt is and I'm going to read further.

When I first read today's prompt, the memory of one obvious event when I took the biggest risk came up. I just wanted to answer today's prompt and complete the writing piece. It's not that easy. My self-coach showed up with an urge to share with my readers the lessons I learned while taking the biggest risk, even though that is not what I suggested in today's prompt.

Anyway, let's get to the question. What was the prompt question? What is the biggest risk you have ever taken? What is the biggest risk you have ever taken?

As a college topper in chemistry, I walked away during my fully paid master's finance semester with an assured PhD stipend for the future to take up a job in a bank as a clerk. I'm going to read this again. Now today I'm laughing but then thinking of that particular event, those days, and then going back to what 21-year-old Dalita? Okay.

I'm going to read this. Again, the prompt question is what is the biggest risk you have ever taken? My answer is as a college topper in chemistry, I walked away during my fully paid master's finance semester with, within the bracket I put, within a assured PhD stipend for the future and the bracket closed to take up a job in a bank as a clerk. The next question in the prompt was what gave you the courage to take that risk?

And my answer is, to answer this, I will first explain why I did what I did. My personal and family financial circumstances demanded that I take up what was considered as stable, respectable job, and that time when the opportunity showed up. After 42 years of making that decision, I do not regret making it at all. While I'm writing for this prompt, I'm in awe and gratitude for God, giving me the ability to support the future.

I see the situation, listen to my heart, and trust the divine power to bully let go of chemistry, which I specialized in and worked hard for to excel at. And, graciously, graciously let in the new unknown territory of banking, to show me the way to personal, family, and professional life. Now I will answer the question, what gave you the courage to take that risk? As you read about, I answered the simple question of why I did what I did.

Next, when anyone questioned my act or even when small stones of regret showed up as a stop story, I would go back to my why and fly with how I can do my best in banking. It's that simple. I would like to add my own prompt here. How did taking this risk help me in future?

It gave me the courage and faith to accept and take leadership roles as a manager in the bank, in India, and boldly let it go when circumstances demanded. I did it again when I had to move internationally by letting go of my managerial position in banking and letting in to the unknown territory of immigration. It reassured me that if I can excel in one domain, which is which was chemistry and have the courage to let go of the position, slash title or financial rewards, I can do the same thing in another domain banking, comma immigration. I was able to explore self-employment with the same reassurance and divine grace.

And I'm pretty confident that anyone can do it. Thank you for reading and I wish you all the best. Last please see a blurb. Please subscribe to my stories by email for the best chance to catch my original works.
