An estimated 494 million people in sub-Saharan Africa have no form of legal identification. This is about 40% of the world’s total population without any form of recognized legal identification. How is Africa responding to this? With almost 50 African Nations having issued e-passports, there has been a clear drive to spread the use of biometric-based identification across Africa in recent years.
