We like to call it the supernatural Hour and now our host. Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour. This is your tiger toast Raven. This is Chad This is Jaz this is Emmett with heat stroke So no for real though.

It's a real thing. So no, yeah, I really has it Well, I think I'm mostly over it Well, I'm in Pleasanton, California for a bagpipe competition It was a hundred and six degrees there in human which I don't do human I live in a desert Anyway eight yards of wool long-sleeves shirt tie vest long wool socks up to my knees Yeah, the whole the whole content of the whole outfit is wool, isn't it pretty much? Yeah, just you know to make you suffer. So all this Saturday I was fine all this Sunday I was fine just had one thing left and it's not a big I mean it's a mass bands It's a big deal that is not like the band suffered because I wasn't there but I was like I got nauseous.

I got a headache I got There was another nauseous headache fever fever loss of words, maybe well, that's a daily thing So, you know, whatever I'm like I've got to go back to the hotel So I went back to the hotel never went back and cleaned up and finished and went to dinner and you know don't expect great things from me today At all, okay, that's kind of a daily thing, but especially today. Well, let's move on business thing So this is a busy time of year first. We've got a lot of things going so coming up Saturday September 16th at 7 p.m. At the town hub theater in American Fork We're doing our dead talk presentation and then there's an investigation after that If you just want to come to the presentation the tickets are ten dollars in the presentation and investigation or 35 and the investigation is limited to like 30 tickets or 20 25 tickets if you want to get involved with the investigation Next coming up another one of our big or big October event is going to be the limits cemetery in Ogden We're going to be there on Saturday October 22nd at 8 p.m.

Tell me tonight We did this investigation a couple of years ago and it was really fun. It was it was a highlight investigation So we're really looking forward to going back to the Levitt Cemetery We also have a number of library presentations that are free. You'll need to check with the various libraries But on October 13th, we have the Central Park Community Center in Salt Lake 7 o'clock October 14th the Chapman Library in Salt Lake on October 21st the American Fork Library And on October 26th we have the Springfield Library And those are fun those are some of my favorite ones I mean everything we do is fun, you know, if we're in someone's home There might be a little stress trying to make sure we're getting everything covered and I mean not stressed But you know you've got some concern because you want to do a good job and we want to be professional and address all the problems But you know, there's just that you know we get everything You know on a public investigation We want to make sure we want to make sure we're having a good time and we're hoping that everyone's having some sort of paranormal experience Oh, these are fun and informative and these venues most of them are pretty active Well, and the thing with the library presentations is they all contacted us We did not go to them every single one of them has said we can do this Our library is haunted and we've investigated all of these except one one is new and I think the Central Park Community Center is here But the other three we've been there we've investigated they're haunted ones on the side of an old the old jail One is just a very very old building in an old part town One has a bunch of old pioneer log cabins sitting out in the right next to it Right next to it and it's an old part of town with a lot of Native American activity art history anyway So these are fun if you've never been to one of these you need to come to one of these I have been I can't wait I mean if you're a hardcore Ghost investigator, I don't know you might be a little bored, but I don't think so they're fun. We'll be there.

We're fun. Very And we have the Indian Hills Horror. It's a it's a public haunt at a private residence Klaus who's sometimes on the podcast and helps us With the sound every year he does the Indian Hills Horror This is like the 17th year that they have put on that haunted house I think last year they had about 1,800 people go through in three nights. They're going to be doing it on Friday October 28th Saturday October 29th and Monday Halloween October 31st So we're looking forward to that the hours vary a little bit with the weekends and the Monday night So you can check the events paranormal comm slash haunt or we'll also have it on our events page So you go up there and get the address and the information in the time so it's free It's a lot of fun.

It's a it's a really really good haunt and bring your bring your family It's it's you know, it's kid-friendly ish They they try not to scare the little kids hard, but they like to scare the teenagers hard So it's it's really a fun one. So the business has been brought to you by Castle Photo Art So go to go to Castle for your photo needs He's he's been a big supporter of the program and was one of the original founders of the advanced paranormal and supernatural hour Yep, so it's gonna be a very busy couple months for us. I'm kind of excited. It's a busy season Yeah, I've been a scare actor before and done tours to haunted houses all of that stuff So we have not had any residential investigations since our last podcast We're all up to date on that.

So hopefully we'll have one for you the next time we podcast Our main topic we're gonna talk about Wiccan and Wicca and it's brought to you by Otayos Otayos great Mexican restaurant great food just if you're on the YouTube look up on the screen and you'll see some wonderful dishes that Otayos prepares When it comes to wiccans we were researching this we could do like a whole podcast on its own About wiccans there's a lot and you know our podcast we try to keep it to an hour It's called the supernatural hour sometimes we go over sometimes we're a little under but you know We can always round it to an hour the supernatural hour ish. Yes So you know again our average exactly if you know if you want to get your PhD or your doctorate and we can studies This is not the show for you You've heard to say this a few times we're gonna just kind of touch the basics and maybe in a further in a Executive summary high-level overview kind of way. Yeah. Yeah.

Well, that was that was fancy talk. That's above my pay grade talk And we can you know delve into different aspects of it later if people would like to hear that So if you hear something that we talked about today and want to hear more about it I'm let us know if you don't we'll probably still delve into certain aspects of this at a later date But I found it very interesting well if it's considered a modern actually pagan religion then it's a huge subject in that light Yeah Absolutely I got into like kind of learning a bit about it just for the curiosity sake way long ago There was a youtuber that um she was like in the early days of 2005 YouTube that I got to see on there And I was just like it's interesting. She's talking about it now these days like tiktokers on covid hit I got into tiktok There's a whole world of wickens on there. It's really interesting Well, and I don't know what I thought it was But I mean it was a little bit of what I thought it was but not all the way because I thought it was a little more of a streamlined Religion and not like everyone goes to church on Sunday and they have a book I mean they specifically say on several websites and on several YouTube that they don't really have a Bible and there's several many many different sex S-e-c-t Seats of wickens, but you know they do follow some of the same tenants in a way But from there they can just really kind of branch out however they want one of the things I found was interesting on one website It said that it's roughly a 35,000 year old.

I don't want to say religion way of life 35,000 and another site said it's mid 20th century So, you know I guess even when it started is a little bit, you know You can kind of pick and choose when you want it That's quite a range. Yeah, pagan beliefs go back a long long time But there was a an upsurge in the mid 20th century in England that kind of brought the new contemporary Wiccan practices into into play not that there haven't been wick and practices going on Even before that but kind of the contemporary wick and practices or go back to a guy started about 1939 and went into the 1960s And there's a number of different groups of kind of branched off from there So one of the things I saw that I thought was pretty good was a definition says wick a pagan belief system centered on the worship of nature And often of a god and goddess emphasize a strong connection with the earth and derives magic from it because magic is central to wick According to witchcraft.org every wickin is a witch, but not every witch is a wickin Yeah, wickin is not the only pagan practice of witchcraft and you know we've talked about this before which craft gets a bad rap You know which you know people think oh people that are witches they're st. Morsippers and they're evil and they're all going to hell Which craft is really just kind of more naturalistic one of the things as I was doing my research is I can find this we're probably guilty of falling prey to what we see in Hollywood over the years, you know programs this The 90s when I was growing up the craft was really popular it was like stiff as a board light as a feather every kid and they're like sleepovers totally tried that it was very it was like all the change their hair color with their hands like It really made it probably a bad rap for it Right so what I've got written here as far as kind of wickin you know pairing up with witchcraft is it's a very nature-based pagan belief They have a very early worship nature very much focused on mother earth and father sky So so far I haven't heard anything like super satanic and scary yet The actual word wickin means to bend or shape nature to your service using nature to come about your means and not you I mean they're very much into saving the earth because that's kind of what they worship is the earth Let's see sounds like they're at being League very much with the elementals that we're so familiar with right There was one gal who was you know into she was wickin and she said and again You know there's a lot of different sex So I guess you know you could probably find some that battle more in that maybe but think just in general They're gonna shy away from that but once said you don't often refer to Satan in wickinism. Can you say wickinism?

Is that in wickin? That sounds good to me But they refer to it as the abyss that should be avoided. I mean so that you know we teach that they recognize it Yeah, just kind of huh? There was this note despite all the thousands of different sex and different ways to practice wickinism There is a universal belief in the use of magic and spellwork and this is where people get really dicey because I know You know when Harry Potter came out.

Oh, it's a book about magic and magic spells Oh, it's evil we can still really view magic and spellwork as supernatural per se They view it as harnessing and redirecting natural energy of the earth to affect change around us Yeah And if Doc was here today He would tell us that the idea of spells when you talk about it in the symbolism some of the other things that the idea of spells are Literally procedures They are orders of operations that you do to make things happen And we use those kinds of orders of operation in modern life all of the time and there's other things with intent But that's kind of the idea of a spell is how to put things in an order to make things happen Yeah, I mean you think about it you take flour and eggs and yeast and milk and salt and heat and heat and you mix it together and boom We've got bread or a cake is that not magic, you know So let me talk about you know prayer and positive energy and good thought and that you know that has an effect too So yep, who's to say you know well the science teacher me like we talk about how energy is you know Always just being reused and reused and you know, there's always that same and so just transforms in different ways So I guess they're just like using energy that's already there around us and you know Having a baby like that's magical. That's like a crazy thing that happens and And you know another thing that kind of said along those same lines is that magic is simply a tool or a skill set You know I think I would agree and some of the tools that they use in their skill sets these a wand and You know the idea of a wand, you know And if you're wickin and you know more about this than me Please let me know because I'm not trying to do any misinformation This is just my opinion that I'm inserting here This is what can as Raven is trying to understand it But is that is the one symbolic is that something you know It does the wand to actually hold powers based on the energy of the wood that it is made or is it just a way to focus Of I've got my wand. I'm focusing my intent I'm focusing my energy to manipulate other energies and other things and some of the other things they use are herbs or herbs If you live in one of those countries that thinks it's pronounced with the age Love you England and Australia. They also use crystals that use candles and I think it's intent no matter what you do and how you do it I think I'm just gonna throw out some crazy number.

I think 90% of it. Oh huge percent of it is going to be your intent I can see how a wand would certainly help you focus and if there's an aiming component or a gathering component to whatever They do I think a wand would serve as a great focal point I have no issues with the one I went to universal studios and I bought a Harry Potter wand And if I could take that sucker and wave it around and have my house just clean all by itself I was all over that all over it. I'm all over it So I watched a really interesting video and I've watched a number of minutes the podcast is called religion for breakfast I highly recommend it's very interesting and the guy goes around and talks about different religions He's like a religious scientist, but he's not of any denomination. He's kind of an atheist, but he's not anti-religion It's really interesting his topic that I watched is what is wicca and there's a couple highlights I've got kind of some bullets.

I wanted to share from it He said it's a new religious movement based on witchcraft that arose in England in the mid 20th century We kind of talked about that. It's a contemporary pagan religion possibly one of the largest pagan religions in the world It's very eclectic and nothing is monolithic. There's things coming in from everywhere with there's not just one size fit all Wicca comes from the old English word for switch or sorcerer probably pronounced Wicca WIT cha the term was adopted by practitioners in the early 1960s both men and women identify themselves as witches and claim it as a positive title They don't subscribe to the historical Christian view that witches are evil figures many use terms like wicca and Satanism interchangeably But they are two different movements Satanists are a group of people who look at Satan as a symbol of admiration a symbol of individualism non-conformity or rejection of authoritarianism There's even atheistic Satanists. They don't believe in the supernatural at all, but they adopt Satan as a model for their lives They're non-theistic and non-supernatural.

I thought that was interesting about some Satanists that don't believe in in God or Satan Well, I guess if you got to have a tribe Make something weird of yeah And we kind of talked about this already not all groups that identify as witches are wiccan wiccan follows pre-quition pagan pagan religion Wiccan's origins the modern were founded in the mid 20th century by Gerald Gardner He's considered to be the father of wicca and Gerald Gardner was a Freemason and was also a rusticrucian Which is an esoteric order and we're gonna talk a little more about them when he was mentioning it it Kind of freaked me out just a little bit because I was like I have never heard that word before and then suddenly boom So that the ruschecrusions when we were in California We went to this Egyptian museum and as you know We were just in Egypt and we met this lady at dinner. She's like oh you got to go to this Egyptian museum It's fabulous. And so we're like okay and supposedly it's the biggest one did I say supposedly supposedly supposedly supposedly It's the largest one in North America and it was actually really good, but we walked in and I don't remember exactly what it was But something just said to me. I think that this is up kept by some sort of a religious order and we were walking around and they've got mummies their folks Mummies was it in San Jose?

Yes? It was in San Jose real dead mummies if you know me I have this just this more But fascination with mummies and so I was like there's mummies. I'm all over it. They had three three human mummies Anyway, so I was there walking around and it was a quite a good museum for you know San Jose, California It was a lot bigger than I was expecting it to be they had a lot of really cool stuff there And at one point my feet were just starting to hurt and so I sat down for a minute And I looked up and it was talking about the rose accrusions and if we're saying this wrong forgive us We're not up to speed on this and I was like oh and the rose accrusions.

They're not a religion. They're more of a spiritual order Mm-hmm. So that being said Gerald Garger was one of one of them also in 1939 He was initiated to a coven of which is at a purported location of Chutin Millhouse known as the new forest coven And he claimed he found a pre-quished witchcraft coven based upon you know religion that was surviving in England The ideas come from the English historian Margaret Murray one of the main champions of this witch cult survival theory She provided the academic foundation for Gardner and she wrote the book the witch cult in Western Europe Which she published in 1921. There's a lot of really good information I'm not gonna go into that Gardner founded his coven after World War two and popularized witchcraft Which was a prominent figure in the British occult circles.

He knew Alistair Crawley who we've talked about was a podcast about him They were acquainted and Alistair Crawley initiated Gardner into the esoteric oto templey ordinius I have no idea what that is or or if that's pronounced right Gardner also was a druid I had a lot of things going on to him Gardner's version of wick and maybe the largest contemporary pagan religion in the world So there's lots and lots about that and there's so much more in that podcast about him So I'd recommend if you're interested in a subject to go out and look at that podcast religion for breakfast What is wick it because it was really really good? So it sounds like he's like the genesis of modern wickah. Yeah pretty much yeah, there's two or three groups that go back to him three major three or four major Variations they've got the the gardenarian wick and covens which are led by high priestesses who were trained by the predecessors They're ideal coven signers with six pairs of men and women representing the goddess and God There's an Alexandrian wickah founded by Alex Sanders in the 1960s. It's much more eclectic than the gurdarian and the gurdarian one is a little more structured There's a dyantic wickah influenced by a second wave of feminism and it's feminist spirituality and they only worship the goddess They don't worship the God so that was quite interesting There's a Susan B.

Anthony number one coven who only allows women It's led by a high priestess and not a priest and the witch is a symbol of radical religious innovation and political resistance to the patriarchy So that was kind of interesting So there's there's that and then eclectic wickah, which is kind of open source and anything can do and then wickens can do their own Thing too They don't have to go scribe to to any of the above and still be a wickah Wickens hold to an ethical precept called the wickah read and that is do what you will as long as you do no harm Yeah, they have a lot of of creeds which I was like, you know If you don't know anything about wickah and if it's not wickah and it's just pat me on the head and call me cute I'm just doing my best. I've nothing against wickens. We actually point it was wickah and we've got a lot of insects again Everything I know about it was from walking into the wickens store. So this is all in informative to me There's a store?

Just these witch stores. Okay. There's what have you been to the one in magna? Which is hollow or chrome?

No, that's in we which is three years. I believe we went out to magna We were there in John's office game. That's right and wickens covens They actually have a form of initiation and a degree system. You're in different degrees or a Spire a spire game work hard and I had heat exhaustion yesterday folks work with me here But as a part of this initiation they dedicate themselves to God, you know, they're not out there Mortripping God and goddess.

Yeah, God's and goddesses, you know, just because it doesn't look like what you think a God religion should look like Doesn't mean it's not they adhere to a lot of the threefold return. There's the wick and ready reading We were talking about read they have a concept of after life they participate in sciences Which I'm not too big on but they do have contact with the unknown, you know Spirits so some people say it's not paranormal, but they do have a paranormal aspect to them in my opinion They will utilize tarot cards runes astrology is popular One of the big things that they come up with is and it's with for all pagans It's not just wick is they call it the wheel of the year and there are eight different festivals that go on during course of year Some of which you'll probably be familiar with that we use also It's called the Sabbats the wheel of the year was actually kind of formalized in the 1960s But many of these festivals have been around Anciently the Sabbath Irish names and times you might have heard of a couple of these there's you will which is happens at the winter Solstice December 21st or 22nd Imbulk which is February 2nd Ostera which is the spring equinox March 21st or 22nd Beltane which is May 1st some people in our cultures call that May Day where we have May 1st celebrations Liffa which is the summer solstice June 21st or 22nd Loonka stud August 1st May 1 which is the fall equinox September 21st or 22nd and then Sam Hain which is something that you might have heard of It's on October 31st and I think we call it Halloween Right and we have done a podcast years ago back when castle was on where we discussed these pagan holidays in depth That was interesting But kind of going back to some of the basic beliefs of wickens These are just the basic beliefs, you know and they're gonna go off depending on what school of wickens thought you're going to follow But basic beliefs divine nature karma and afterlife and sensory These holidays that Chad just talked about they're very big in personal responsibility They avoid causing harm and they have respect for others beliefs So people that think that you know, which is in wickens are just horrible I'm sorry, but we can turn out again depends on your intent and how you use it But you know you have Christians with bad intent and you have Muslims with bad intent We could go on for an hour talking about that but just a core belief of anyone who follows the wickin lifestyle Those are those are some some good tenants of society Yeah, they get a bum wrap for a lot of stereotypes that are out about wickin and witches I mean if you look at that those basic beliefs personal responsibility avoid causing harm respect for other beliefs nature Afterlife ancestry celebrating certain times of the year I mean if you just gave me those basic core beliefs, I wouldn't know if you're talking about wickens Christians Muslims Judas I had to eat stroke, did I say that? My brain's a little over fried not stroke exhaustion Well, it's you know, it's it's serving the role of religion in these people's lives So, you know, obviously it's got to have you know similar pillars that it's founded upon and you know beliefs to get you through your day and Deal with other people All those religions that you know, we listed they're protected by law including wickin I said that in 1986 What was recognized as an official official legend the United States to the court case of says to meta versus Landon It was a guy who was refused ritual objects for worship and they said that wick is entitled to first-minute protection Like other religions and so they did another website was talking about how because of that like it's also nice It's in Canada, but they're recognizing it But because of that like which could also be protected on his rights because it's a branch off like the wickin is the religion witchcraft is the Like the overarching spiritual part. It's just a seriously taken apparently according to law too So yeah, that's interesting But it did say that in a u.s.

Army handbook has an injury in witchcraft is being a term for wickin But they're not exactly the same thing which can be used interchangeably. Yeah, they're not by accident Yeah, cars are vehicles, but not all vehicles are cars. Yeah, you know, it's kind of one of those things and yet sometimes they'll use them interchangeably Inappropriately One of the things that I've been working on with the podcast is we've got YouTube vintage episodes and a couple of the vintage episodes that we've just put up recently Were ghosts in various religions broke ghosts in Christianity and ghosts with Muslims and Hindus So if you go out to YouTube go to supernatural hour you can see our you tubes on that and these are vintage episodes We're done a couple of years ago, but we're resharing those with our YouTube audiences But with that in mind I thought well, what about ghosts in wickin and where does that fall? So I found a little information that I thought was very interesting because that again There's not a hard fast rule across all of wickin because of how broad wickin is but there was a couple of things that I found interesting One one of them they call is an earthbound spirit and it says one idea that can overlap with other ideas that is that some spirits become trapped on earth This might be because they have unfinished business experience trauma don't know they're dead or maybe they're just too trapped by their own negativity Either way some souls don't move on to the summerlands or to roam the universe or even to be reincarnated until they can be freed from their earthly prisons These would be the ghosts and entities that many believe haunt certain places to be poltergeist or other threatening entities I thought that was interesting and then another belief that they have is that there's free spirits and some wickins believe that our ghosts are Immortal and free from our bodies when we die there is no particular place to go and reincarnation if it exists as all is purely optional Once we are unshackled from our physical bodies the non-coporeal spirit is free to explore the vast expanse of time and space completely unfettered It's like a permanent astral travel one minute you go back in time and witness the building of the pyramids the next second You can blink yourself do Pluto sometime in the future when it's being colonized by aliens You can watch your progeny throughout the generations or you can just go to sleep and never wake up unless you want to a lot of interesting things about ghosts and wickin and spirits and there's others they did talk a little bit there about the summerlands which I thought was interesting Because they said it's not really heaven says some people mistakenly believe that the summerland is the wick in word for heaven But that's wouldn't be quite accurate at least not in terms of the Judeo-Christian heaven some wickins who believe in life after death I believe there's another place another plane of existence the spirit world What's exists behind the veil where spirits go to rest and reunite after death the summerlands is just a common name for the spirit world No one really knows what it might be like some imagine that in afterlife portrayed by Robin Williams film What dreams may come or the next is to the Star Trek film generations You essentially create your own reality there and become what you want it to be you can look how you want to look and be with Whomever you want to be with at any time.

There's a bit of a caveat there be careful how you think a negative pessimistic soul could easily turn his own Afterlife into his own personal health others see it a little more literally as a beautiful wrist up a regular Elician fields where everyone that go to the bad go to take stock of their lives before moving on to the new incarnation One of the other things I discovered about wickin is I don't know kind of found this fascinating Is it really appeals to teenagers especially girls the wickin that I knew I guess I knew a couple ones of girl But I did know a man who said he was wickin and but it really appeals to girls You know girl power the whole goddess revival and it really appeals to teens and the reason why is because they can control They're the spiritual forces around them You know through their use of the magic like we talked about earlier and teens just at that age where they want to be in control But they're too young to be fully in control because they're not adults and they still have to do it mom and dad say and so this kind of gives them a feel of Control and that makes total sense. Yeah, there's also no rules and no absolute standards You know there's some basic guidelines and some basic tenants kind of you know We've talked about this before tonight, but they do what you will there's one wickin high priestess who said without the circle There are no absolutes no rights no wrongs And so you know especially the teens wicka appears to be just a really perfect mix and match religion to just kind of mold and form to your own Personal belief system. Yeah, well I've seen all over tick-tock all of those teenager aid tick-tockers are all like wickins and do witchcraft and talking all about it Just all over tick-tock and that's their little world There's a little teenager world that I'm in you know I'm not a teenager and we talked about it There aren't specific rules or book but there are what's kind of identified as 13 core principles And it says although wicka has a decentralized religion often led by solitary practitioners There are a few central tenants that dictate wickin belief system at least in the United States at a 1973 conference more than 70 wickins from different wickin subsets Temporarily convened a council of American witches and hammered down 13 core principles that many us wickins still recognize decades later We'll run through these pretty quickly one you have a list there's a list it is a list So this is Chad's list. This is Chad's list.

Okay. We're just gonna make it known that Chad has a list today. Okay. I don't think he's Surpassed your number though.

I think I think you're still the queen of lists Number one principle we practice rights to attune ourselves to the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the moon and the seasonal Quarters and cross-quarters usually in the form of the Sabbath and ispa celebrations Number two we recognize that our intelligence gives us a unique responsibility towards our environment We seek to live in harmony with nature and ecological balance offering fulfillment to life and consciousness with an evolutionary concept That sounded good. Number three we acknowledge the depth of power far greater than that apparent to the average person because it is far greater than ordinary It is sometimes called supernatural, but we see it as lying within that which lies naturally in the potential of all Number four We conceive of the great creative powers in the universe as manifesting through polarity as masculine and feminine and at the same creative power lies in all people And functions throughout the interactions of the masculine and feminine we value neither above the other knowing each to be supportive of the other We value sex as pleasure and as a symbol and embodiment of life and as one of the sources of energies used in magical practices and religious worship Number five we recognize both outer worlds and inner psychological worlds sometimes known as the spiritual world And collective unconscious inner planes etc and we see in the interaction of these two dimensions the basis for paranormal phenomena and magical exercises We neglect neither dimension for the other scene both is necessary for our fulfillment We do not recognize any authority hierarchy But do under those who teach and respect those who share their greater knowledge and wisdom and acknowledge those who have courageously given themselves in leadership We see religion magic and wisdom in living as being united in the way one views the world and lives within it A worldview and philosophy of life which we identify as witchcraft the wickin way Calling oneself a witch does not make a witch but neither does heredity itself or the collecting of titles degrees or initiations A witch seeks to control forces within himself or herself that make life possible in order to live wisely and well without harm to others and in the harmony of nature We believe in the affirmation and fulfillment of life and continuation of evolution and development of consciousness giving meaning to the universe as we know it And our personal role within it Number 10 our only animosity towards Christianity or towards any other religion or philosophy of life Is to the extent that that institution has claimed to be the only way and have sought to deny freedom from others to suppress others ways of religious practices and beliefs As american witches we are not threatened by debates of history of the craft or origins of various terms The legitimacy of various aspects of different traditions. We are concerned with our own presence and our own future We do not accept the concept of absolute evil nor do we worship any entity known as satan or the devil or as defined by the christian tradition We do not seek power through the suffering of others nor accept that personal benefit can be derived only by denial to another We believe that we should seek within nature that which is contributory to our health and our will be So those are the 13 tenants or core principles of wickin And I thought some of them were really interesting like the one about evil and satan and the one about christianity and not harboring ill will for that Let us be we'll let you be some of those kinds of things They're pretty specific where they cover a lot of bases and they really do And everything else is allocart Yeah, and I think you can get a lot of allocart within that framework. Oh, yeah Yeah, you know based on that there's certainly nothing to fear No, and you know like we talked about it's just you know the the basics and the core are just good responsible human being things Yeah Something that I wanted to kind of hit on a little bit and learning through the world of tiktok All that I need to know apparently they talked about like closed practices open practices and so um I was looking up like wickin in particular And it says it's like a semi-close practice wickin could be considered a semi-close religion traditional wick It requires a year and a day form of initiation with the student studies for an entire year before they begin their practice And wickin is open for those interested and doesn't require a bloodline relation or perhaps even a marriage into it Like there's certain religions like on there's a lot of like I believe like Native American ones like indigenous sorry indigenous ones that are closed And so that's why certain things that people think which is that you maybe like certain types of stages and stuff that'd be considered part of a closed practice But other things aren't so like that's an interesting whole other topic too, but I was curious like wickin in particular of what it was Yeah, I think that's really interesting.

Yeah, I think this is such a broad topic that could go on and on about it But I think we probably ought to move on to emmit segment Yeah, we'll revisit wickins again one day We run into them sometimes on investigations But this summer I've had a lot of time to review evidence Well, I've been dealing with some medical issues and one thing I noticed especially was uh reviewing evps audio recordings And I just want to emphasize and you know, it's it's hard for us You know, we try to be quiet when we're recording, but sometimes you know we cough or sneeze or you know We really shouldn't whisper when somebody's doing evp recordings You know go ahead and talk loud or you know marks up say something if you know if you make a noise Um, just let them know because it's so hard sometimes you go through some of these subtle little whisperings and noises and it just makes it so much easier And you know, I forget it myself. I'm guilty of it myself So just kind of a gentle reminder on the audio and video recordings to mark that and just say something audible and loud and clear So people know that it isn't paranormal evidence trying to trying to break through but it's so embarrassing Well, it is, you know, that was me farting. Sorry. Uh, yeah, it happens Yep, yep But that's all I wanted to say this week Well, thank you appreciate that.

You know, I just you know, it's been on my mind a lot But before the junk drawer, I want to remind you all about supernatural hour swag at advanced paranormal calm I was just thinking today. I've got to pick up a few more items for the cleansing kit And this is the place to go for stuff like that. Whatever your needs Absolutely, we've got some good stuff too So our junk drawer is actually a personal experience that chad and I had in california this weekend another trip before heat exhaustion kicked in But we went and saw the Winchester mystery house. Wow.

We did I knew this competition was coming up in pleasant and I was like, hey That's not very far from San Jose Do you know the way to San Jose? I do now. I've never been to northern california. I could live there southern california Not so much if you listen to this new live in southern california, please keep listening to us Now it is beautiful down there, but I don't know southern california to me Just gives me a real big city vibe and where we were in the San Jose area was more small town And I'm from a small town, so it just spoke to me more so I wasn't being like rude and just kind of Fung with my schway a little better than southern california does anyway, I digress so we went to the mystery house and It was it was awesome.

I'm glad I went gotta tell you two things first We went to we went to some friends of ours. We went to the we got there early Because we just kind of came straight from the airport went to drop our luggage off at the hotel They didn't have our rooms ready so we're like, okay, whatever We'll just go to the mystery house. We have stuff to do so we get there and I thought it was going to be like out in the country It is right downtown. It is right downtown.

It might have been out in the country when it was built Yeah, no, it was like what they say like on a hundred and forty acres or something like hundred and sixty one acres Wow, yeah, city grew up around it. Yeah, there's litter But it is a beautiful home and we again we have another podcast where we talk just about the Winchester mystery house You can go back and listen to that and we also kind of review the movie that came out which I thought was pretty good So that's cool that you made it we did and it was on my bucket list Chad has been there before many years ago But not when he was of a paranormal mindset, so it was kind of fun to go back and in addition They have really made a lot of improvements since the mid 1990s on that with updates getting more furniture in some of the rooms that they didn't have furniture All of the original furniture was shipped out and they said it looked like what 60 days Yeah, they said they they sold off all the furniture they said it they did eight Cartloads a day of furniture and it took them like six weeks Wow, just crazy I mean because all the rooms were furnished at the time But they have since refurnished many of the rooms with historical period furniture It wasn't that's good wasn't the furniture that was was there originally but all of the stained glasses original all of the light fixtures and Anything that was built in was original Is what our guide said and our guide was fabulous. I was sorry. I remember his name.

I looked what did you feel while you were in there? Victor was his name so there the science room. I did not like it my heart has started beating I got really nervous and shaky and I did not like that room I was very glad to get out and when Victor said hey, you know who would like to open the secret door out I'm like me me so I open the door so there's one rope there's one door in and three doors out Yeah, because they don't have like door knobs on the other side of them Yeah, when you come into the room, you can't get out from that door knob anyway, so then wait a minute wait a minute Sorry, what happens with the doors? There's three ways out.

You remember the one you open it up and there's an eight foot drop down to the sink in the kitchen below you yes, I can use that door you gotta be in an acrobat or you know break your leg close to And then there was the secret door that you went through yeah, and then he's like who wants to go through for something me me Thank you very much. I don't like this room. I'm out. I don't remember what the door was but it was kind of a creepy door too Yeah, so what so here's just kind of my thoughts on the Winchester Mystery House.

I'm glad I went it was fantastic It was a beautiful home. I wish they put craftsmanship into homes like that now I mean the woodwork was beautiful the flooring was beautiful I do realize that she had a gazillion dollars especially for that she had 20 million dollars in 1886 I mean that's just the goblin. So you know I get that but just the craftsmanship was amazing I thought it was going to be weirder than it was I was expecting more weird There's a lot of weird things, but I don't know I was expecting more weird things but there was plenty of weird things You know the stairs that go nowhere the mini steps from the mini steps because she was like four foot eleven and had arthritis when she was older So they these little tiny risers on her stairs There's a couple rooms the the family that we went with is actually quite sensitive and when we were in the gift shop I got off my gift shop story when we went in the gift shop with the daughter said well when we came out of the gift shop She said I asked my mom, you know what she said to me and she said I turned to my mom wasn't there She she felt like her mom was standing there said her name And when she turned was it there Wow? So that we did that and then occasionally she'd go you know right even come here like over She's like what do you feel here?

I was like and we would feel the same thing in the same place I'd say I feel like that's where I felt it right would say hey come here So we were kind of feeling the same things there was one area kind of it wasn't really a room It was more like a little closet you know my friend's daughter was like hey come here I'll choose my friend come here and so I went over and she said you feel that I'm like oh yeah It was really heavy and then I kind of looked at where it was and it was male and you know kind of alpha male And as I walked past it punched me right in the chest. Oh wow And I was like rude I'm definitely haunted definitely a lot of spirits there Oh, I went to the gift shop and I bought this pair of sweats and a t-shirt because I do that And I wore the sweats to bed and you know that fabric that's like white I call it salt pepper fabric It's white it's got a black speckle on it. Yes, I know that ever. I'm sure there's a name for it I can't think about it.

I think about it. I may never have known what it is But when I woke up is it Heather? I don't know it's like white white with dark dark black speckles on it Anyway, that's what my sheet looked like when I woke up because little fuzz balls came up my pants everywhere And then they were on my kill because then I sat on the bed with my kill that I there are little black fuzzies Everywhere I need to wash these and hopefully they'll go away But I really liked it. I had a good experience there.

Well, excellent. Yeah, it was a great experience The gardens were were lovely and impressive well manicured the outbuildings there was lots of You know lots of history there one of the things about her was she was very generous to her workers As long as you didn't question her on what she wanted and what to do often paying two to three times the amount that anybody else in the area Was getting setting some of her workers up with homes as she bought more and more of the properties in the area as these farm These farm were being bought by her the farmhouse as she would set her workers up in the farmhouses of these new properties that they expanded Because she was also growing orchards and vineyards and you know those kinds of things and On the property, you know 168. That's a lot of land So it was a great experience. That's fun.

That's fun. If I ever get out there, I'll be sure to take a tour So just you have a stone for us. Yeah before we started. I was like, okay, what do I need to know?

I pulled the amulet stones and it's also known as a thunder egg. It looks kind of cool It's kind of ulti colored almost looks like it's probably not connected all with the name But those century eggs when you like crack open those old like your own eggs Well, like kind of like a geode a bit. Yeah, I mean it says it's connected to protection guidance travel and integration Says travel plans will soon be on the horizon and I expect the opportunity will rise Which will see you preparing to travel to a far place The amazon helps you offer to protection and guidance while you travel and it says allow yourself to keep an open heart in mind I mean, I am I am traveling later this month. You just traveled so I'm going to a football game a few hours away So maybe we need to hear about traveling.

That sounds like it's topical Alright cool. So the stone was brought to you by the hub theater That's again where we're gonna be having our dead talk presentation the town hub theater in american fork So they've got lots of other programs there should go out and check out their programs Absolutely. So stay spooky my country friends. They have a great night.
