WIL Talk #42, Gillian Stein, CEO of Henry's
from WIL Talk (Women in Leadership Talk) · host Vicki Bradley
There are a lot of stigmas around mental illness and how we approach a topic, no one seems comfortable discussing it. We are fortunate to speak with Gillian Stein, the CEO of Henry’s, a family-owned and operated, iconic Canadian independent camera retailer since 1909. In our conversation, we learn that there is no straightforward path to mental illness, and for many people, it is nonlinear. Gillian shares with us that in 2021, she made the decision to come out publicly and announce her own journey with a mental illness diagnosis. She shares her journey and how she thrives with a wonderful support system around her, what her company is doing to open the conversation and how they created the Henry’s Foundation to support others walking this path. It takes tremendous courage to be open about what her journey is like and how she is making a change with how we speak about mental health on all levels.
