I skip many comedies because they seem to be striving for the "most shocking" of crassness and volume. Too little use of language and subtlety for me. Maybe if more comedians had giant eyes like Mr. Wilder, they'd rely less on their volume. Years from now, when asked about the memories of the first movies that made me laugh in a way that made me feel smart, I will surely the report that memory has not died. "It's Alive! It's Alive" I can safely say will be my response.
