A coalition of NGOs and researchers is calling on government to fund a new Maternal Support Grant for pregnant women living in poverty. The proposed grant would provide temporary income support during pregnancy, helping women access nutritious food, healthcare and antenatal services. Advocates argue the intervention could reduce low birth weight and childhood stunting while delivering significant long-term savings to the public healthcare system.
