Will the Tokyo Olympics Ever Happen? The 2020 Tokyo Olympics was one of the many casualties of the Worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Only three (3) prior times in the modern history of the Summer Games have the Olympics been cancelled. In early 2020 the IOC decided to delay the start of the games due to the worldwide medical crisis. Now as the year 2021 approaches, and the world is still in the grips of dealing with the impact of the pandemic, will the games be further delayed, or even cancelled? Will the worldwide Taekwondo athletes that have been training so hard be deprived of their shot at Olympic glory? If the games take place, what impact will the interruption of sparring training have on their performance?
