Canada and the U.S. appear to be getting closer to a trade agreement, with Canadian Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc saying the two sides are “very close” after another round of negotiations in Washington. Premier Christine Fréchette is facing criticism from the Parti Québécois over her recent decision to make statements in both French and English, particularly when discussing the Canada-U.S. tariff dispute. Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada is promising that SPVM officers will be equipped with body cameras within the next year, reviving a project that has been discussed in Montreal for more than a decade.
